WHY?

Why do we make film trailers?
Trailers are made to attract a target audience, gaining their interest to get them to want to watch the film as they need to gain enough of an audience in order to make as big a profit as they can. To attract more audience members they make different cuts of the trailer. Sometimes you see the different trailers coming from different angles, maybe focusing on different characters or different parts of the plot line.

The Avengers, Produced by Marvel and Disney actually have 14 different teaser and full length trailers, focusing on different superhero's and parts of the narrative. There was also a Uk and global trailer which also varied.
It is common for film makers to make separate US and UK trailers due to the difference in humour, slang and context. In some cases common knowledge is needed to understand the reference such as the trailer 'Pride' which has been made for US and UK seperatly have references to 'the Vallies' which American citizens may find  hard to understand and therefore this isn't included in the Us version.
