WHO?

Who are trailers aimed at?

As a class activity we watched some film trailers and took notes on who we thought the target audience was and what features of the trailer were appealing to that audience.

TRASH:

For the film Trash I felt that the target audience were family based due to the wide range of characters within the trailer, making it easier for a wider audience to relate to at least one character. There is also a sense of community and what's 'right' which is more of a stereotypical family orientated film.

THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING:

For the film The Theory of Everything (which I have seen so have a better understanding than the earlier film Trash) I felt it was more aimed towards couples do to the focus on Stephan Hawkins and his love story between himself and his wife. However, I also felt that the film was suitable for families (I saw this film with my family) due to the inspiring story and family related issues, while also being aimed for maybe the older generation as well (35+). The fact that there are more well known actors and the production company being Working Title would mean that the audience would widen as well due to the fan base already created.
