RISK ASSESSMENT

Risks we may come across when filming:

The Train Station: While filming at the station we have to be very carful as fast trains will be moving through the station without stopping and if not sensible could hit us or we could fall onto the track. To prevent this from happening we will film very carefully and inform Chrissy of the dangers before we start shooting. In the case that someone does fall and the injury is minor we will take them back to Scarlets in the car (which is 2 minutes away) and check they are ok, if the injury is more serious we will call the emergency services.

Bedroom: While on the beds, if not being sensible someone could fall off. In order prevent this we will make sure everyone is acting responsibly with no messing about.

Street: We must be very careful when filming on the street as there could be cars pulling out or driving past us. To stay safe we must always have someone keeping an eye out for cars so we can move quickly but safely out of the way. We must also not film on the road when it is dark as people are less likely to see us.

Hospital: The risks of this location are more respecting others privacy and confidentiality rather than physical risks as we are not allowed to film any staff or patient at the hospital without there consent. Luckily for us we only wish to film Chrissy at the hospital and nobody else. In order to respect others privacy we will only film when other people are not in shot and if anyone appears in shot during filming we will stop immediately or ask if they don't mind being in the background.

Marlborough High Street: While filming on the high street the risk is that we are very close to a main road meaning cars may be driving past us quite fast. To stay safe we must be careful and sensible when near the road.

Kitchen: While filming in the kitchen we must be careful when the cup of tea is being made as the water is hot and could burn Chrissy. As we are filming in a kitchen which has an aga that could get hot very quickly and easily meaning we must also be careful while near that. We would inform Chrissy of how easily the aga can get heated and if someone does get burnt we would run it under cold water to calm the burn and continue accordingly. While in the kitchen we are also filming Chrissy drop her phone which could be hazardous if the screen smashed. To prevent this we could use an old phone such as a Nokia which is hard and very very unlikely to break.

Car: While filming the argument between Chrissy and Luke in the car we must make sure that nobody presses on the peddles or accidentally more the handbrake or gearstick. To keep the filming safe we must talk to the actors before the get in the car so they know what to be careful of.

Bathroom: For the filming in the bathroom we want Chrissy to throw some bottles across the sink in her bathroom. In order to keep this safe we can use plastic bottles so that they don't break. We also need to make sure that we are at the right angle while filming so that they don't hit us or the camera.

Motorway: This is the most dangerous location of which we have to film at, as it is above the M4. We have to walk along a busy road to get to the bridge so we will have to use torches in order to be seen by cars but not bright enough to affect their vision. In the case of an accident we will call the emergency services if necessary. Luckily we don't need our actors for this bit meaning the less people it there the safer it will be as we won't be holding up the side of the road as well as being occupied by the actors rather than the cars.

Equipment:

Cameras:
Cameras could get damaged. To prevent this we need to carry our camera equipment slowly and carefully. We must make sure that the camera is not attached to the tripod when carrying it around and that the camera and equipment is not left lying on the floor as a trip hazard or to be damaged. Also when we are not filming we must make sure the lens caps are on so the lens do not get damaged or dusty.

Tripod: Tripods could get damaged. When carrying the tripod we must fold in the legs and carry it upright over our shoulders so we don't hit anyone while carrying it or lifting it. Also we must not leave the equipment on the floor as it is a trip hazard.

Lighting: We will need to use lighting so we need to be careful while using it because if the lights get broken it will go dark, which is hazardous to everyone. Another hazard is some lights may get hot and set fire. To prevent this we so we must turn the lights off when we aren't using them and we mustn't leave them on for long periods of time, or leave them lying around for people to trip over. Also need to make sure everyone involved is aware of the cables, to prevent tripping.
